Rules & Expectations
1. Attend every practice and be on time unless you have been excused prior to practice. Practice starts at 3:50 p.m. SHARP and goes until 6: 30 p.m. Excuses after the fact are considered unexcused. I must be notified in person by the end of the day if you are going to miss practice due to leaving school early because of illness, doctor’s appointment, or family emergency. All absences will have to have a note from a professional or teacher. 2. Speak, act, and talk like a winner. A negative attitude, “Hot-Headed” actions and gutter language will not be tolerated. ATTITUDE IS EVERTHING!!! 3. You will dress appropriately when attending matches and away trips (White Knoll attire only) No jerseys, or other types of jackets. 4. You are expected to wrestle with extreme intensity and attitude at ALL times. 5. You are expected to exhibit personal honestly in all that you do in the classroom, at weigh-ins, matches, tournaments, and in all your endeavors. 6. Parents are not allowed in the wrestling room during practice. 7. Fans aren’t allowed at the bench area during matches. You are to stay in the bench area. Absolutely NO girlfriends are allowed to sit next to wrestlers during tournaments. NO females are allowed to travel on the bus to any away matches with wrestlers unless special permission has been given. 8. During weigh-ins you will remain quiet. 9. You will not talk to the referee, unless he asks you a question. The coaches are the only ones who will question the referee. 10. Always look to your corner for instruction during breaks in matches. 11. YOU WILL NOT THROW YOUR HEADGEAR, CURSE, LOSE YOUR TEMPER, ETC. Violators will be subject to extreme punishment. 12. All team members are expected to stay with the team until everyone is done wrestling. (dual meets and tournaments) Exceptions will be made in extreme cases. We start the competition as a team and we finish it as a team. 13. We practice and wrestle over Christmas break. Please make the appropriate arrangements so that we can continue on our quest to win the state championship. * Everyone involved with the wrestling program here (athletes, coaches, parents, etc.), are part of the White Knoll family. No one person is more important than another. Everyone has a role in this program and we should all work hard to be on the same page. Consequences 1. Late for practice (unexcused) extra physical activity 2. 10 or more minutes late for practice – clean mats, extra physical activity. 3. Missing from practice (unexcused) 1st time (extra physical activity), 2nd (miss a match and conference with parent), 3rd time (dismissed from team) 4. Insubordination or bad attitude – extra physical activity, clean mats, possible suspension or dismissal. 5. Improper dress for trips – extra physical activity. 6. Improper language – 50 push-ups and 50 sit-up on the spot 7. Not making weight or weight goals – 1st time (extra physical activity), 2nd time (miss the next date of competition) 3rd time (moving up a weight class for the rest of the season) Justice does not mean equal treatment for all. The coaching staff reserves the right to deal with each circumstance on an individual basis as deemed necessary and appropriate.
